Did you get a message: "Your recommendations have hit a calorie ceiling. We suggest you edit the goal and select recommendations based on theoretical estimates. ” ?
The calorie ceiling is the lowest and highest number of calories the Alpha Coach App would recommend to users. That is if the smart recommendations suggest a calorie goal lower than 900 Calories or higher than 5000 Calories, you will be alerted to edit your goal and start the journey based on a new calorie goal.
Usually, the calorie ceiling is hit when you are logging food incorrectly/partially for a prolonged period of time or when you play around with your bodyweight logs, logging dramatically different body weights.
The system has no way of knowing whether your logs are accurate or not. The recommendations will be only as accurate as your food logs and body weight logs. For example, if you record a weight of 10kgs weight gain in one week, the system would compute your calorie goal accounting for this, which would mean your metabolism burn is too low.
The system accommodates mistakes in logs and bad data to a great extent. We always look at the data trend for the past 20 days and not just one day. The system also ignores the calorie logs on days you have partially logged foods. We ignore calorie logs for days you did not click "Finish Day"
Despite these checks, if you have consistently logged partially, played around with the weight scale, etc, there is a good chance of hitting a calorie ceiling in the recommendations.
If you have provided bad data, the best way to course correct is to edit your goal, select the calorie recommendations based on theoretical estimates and continue your journey. In 2-3 weeks the system will course correct and drive your metabolism burn to more accurate values. At this point, you can enable smart recommendations again, by editing the goal and choosing the recommendations based on your metabolism burn.
In a scenario of your calorie goal going below 900 Calories or going above 5000 Calories, despite your accurate food logs and bodyweight logs, we recommend you consult a clinical nutritionist.
Planning macros and meals at such low or such high calories is best done under expert supervision.
