Metabolism is technically the amount of calories you burn in a day. This can also be called Total Daily Energy Expenditure. This is different from Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). BMR is the energy you burn at rest.
However, metabolism values take into account the energy you burn throughout the day. This is a combination of energy you burn at rest, energy you burn moving around, exercising and digesting the food you eat. We calibrate your current trend metabolism based on your food logs and body-weight logs.
The algorithm takes into account the days you miss to log your bodyweight and food as well. The system also irons out daily fluctuations in body weight that may happen due to water retention, menstrual cycles, constipation etc. One factor we cannot account for is partial logging of food.
If you log only your breakfast and click ‘finish day’ and not log any more food in the day, then we have no way to get to know whether you have finished logging your meals or you forgot logging the rest of the day.
For accurate recommendations, we recommend logging food accurately and consistently.
